Sincere Gratitude and Its Effect on Your Mind

One of the first steps in changing your relationship with the world around you is going out of your way to take responsibility for honoring and thanking those who have been involved in the highly improbable events that allowed you to get even this far.  It is not only decent and kind of you to do so but also, more effective to take a full inventory of how lucky you’ve been so far before you try and get more good fortune to rain down upon you.

When attempting to influence the Law of Attraction, as seen in The Secret, to your advantage, you need to be aware of the ground rules that will assure your success.  First and foremost, the act of truly feeling and expressing sincere gratitude before you get down to the business of visualizing what you want to manifest is critical.  In fact, you’ll need to get into a habit of really understanding and feeling the things that people do for you each and every day.  These actions of others that assist you in your success are worthwhile to consider, whether the person in question actually meant to help you our or not.

Not that it doesn’t matter what motivation those deserving your gratitude have in relation to your success.  It is very instructive and useful to consider what motivates anyone into behaviours that benefit your situation.  Again, the cognisance of such events is what’s important here.  It’s to your benefit to really understand the ramifications of the little things that happen every day, to train your mind to look for such openings and opportunities as they’ve happened in the past.  In this way, you begin to train your mind to know how to visualize and be ready receive the bounty the Law of Attraction can lay at your feet.

This reshaping of how your mind works through gratitude is due, in part, to how the practice allows you to sit down and spend time thinking and concentrating upon the wide scope of interactions that influence your life.  Just as taking physical notes allows you to keep records and commit information to memory, meditating upon gratitude allows you to train your focus and become mindful of the way good fortune unfolds in your life.

Indeed, often people make some little diagrams or flowcharts to help them get a feel for just how others have impacted their lives.  This can include people living or dead.  You may find that some meant to help, or even hinder you, while others may not have ever seen or heard of you before in their lives.  The people or events that shape your present may be removed from you by degrees of separation.  The more you can take in and find a relationship of some sort to your success.

Even when things go poorly, there may be benefits you can take advantage of.  It is up to you to find the silver lining in these clouds.  You can feel sincere gratitude for the person who treated you very badly for showing you how it feels to others when you treat them the same.  You might feel grateful that someone gave you a difficult challenge to overcome, now that you know you can.

Another useful aspect of practicing regular and sincere gratitude is the ability to view the past as a source of inspiration rather than something to feel angry, sad or cheated about.  Not only do you get a chance to mine your past for the most helpful elements, you also get to make a sort of peace with it, in the process of acknowledging its influence upon your present situation.  Once you’ve done so, you’re in a far better position to focus on the future when you come to visualize your future lucky self.

As you begin to truly feel a sense of gratitude for the world, you may feel a little more peaceful, overall.  Events that might have driven you wild before can be looked at in a whole new light and you can stay focused on the task at hand.  Choosing to think on what you appreciate about other people instead of what you don’t like about them helps you train negativity out of your thoughts.

You can take it one step further and take time to thank people for the help they’ve given you.  This action of expressing your gratitude further cements the lesson in your mind.  Furthermore, it never hurts to let others know you’ve noticed their help.  People love to be acknowledged for the things they do, especially their good deeds.  Even if they didn’t know they’d done you a service, by them know, you might even encourage more helpful behavior from them in the future.  You will definitely be more confident about letting others share your newfound inner joy and enthusiasm.

In any program where you intend to change your way of thinking, just like planting a field, you need to start at the beginning and make preparations.  Conditioning your mind to be on the lookout for opportunity and think positively will assist you in doing what feels good.  Gratitude itself usually feels good, and when it’s a habit, you’ll feel good a lot of the time.  The first step on your journey may be a simple as saying, “thank you.”
